“The Bachelor” Watch Party

Some people have parties to watch sports. Some people have parties to celebrate holidays. And some people have parties to watch television shows and eat cake with a man’s face on it.

Junior Bailey Sullivan is one of those people. Every Monday night since the second season of “The Bachelor” started, she has hosted a watch party for about 10 people.

The Bachelor debuted in 2002 as an American reality dating show.

The bachelor for this season is Sean Lowe. He is a 28 year-old entrepreneur from Dallas,Texas.

He was the last bachelor to be eliminated before the finale in the eighth season of “The Bachelorette.”

“I’m obsessed with “The Bachelor”,” she said. “That show is so hilarious.”

Sullivan’s mom suggested the idea of throwing watch parties.

“I like to watch it and a bunch of people like to watch it,” Sullivan said. “It’s something to look forward to on Mondays.”

Junior Meredith Morris enjoys watching the Bachelor as well.

“[The show]is funny because of how fake a lot of the girls are,” Morris said. “And how much they make it more about winning than finding love.”

Sullivan’s watch parties usually involves food and other fun parts as well as watching the show itself.

“We have tons of food,” Morris said. “We have a ‘treat of the week’ that is based on ‘The Bachelor.’ One week we had a cake of Sean, another we had cookies from Eileen’s with roses on them.”

Each new episode includes a rose ceremony in which the girls who are still in the competition receive a rose. Those girls who do not receive a rose from the bachelor are then eliminated from the show.

Sullivan and her guests also do activities that go along with the show.

“We made a board with all of the girls on it,” Sullivan said. “And we’re crossing them out as we go.”
