Online Policy
Free State Journalism is an open forum for the students of Free State High School. We accept criticism and are open to public commentary for the sake of improving our coverage of our student body.
AI Use Transparency
Members of our staff are allowed limited use of artificial intelligence. Our reporters use Otter.AI for interview transcription and our photographers use the AI denoise feature on Adobe Lightroom. Other than transcription and denoise, AI use for writing stories, photo captions and to enhance photos and designs is entirely prohibited. If we find one of our staff members using AI, they will be removed from our publication.
Blocking Policy
• We will block spam accounts and accounts who have made repeated threats against the mental or physical well-being of students or members of our school community
• No student will be blocked indefinitely. The amount of time a user is blocked will vary based on severity and will be determined by the Editorial Board.
• The Editorial Board will communicate with the user in question in the event that they are blocked via email.
Comment Policy

•No hate speech
•No inappropriate language
•Do not advertise products or service
•Do not share personal information such as phone numbers, email addresses, etc.
•Do not spread misinformation
•Other comments that may be deemed inappropriate will be reviewed by our Editorial Board and addressed further
Commenting:
Comments must be approved by Online Editor-in-Chief Baila Love. If you believe we have made an error in disapproving a comment, email Baila Love and we will review it. We will then respond in 2-3 school days with either an explanation of how it violates our policy or simply stating that it is not available on our website.
Content Publishing:
Content must be approved by at least three editors before being published, one of which must be Online Editor-in-Chief Baila Love. Photos going along with content must be taken or collected by a staffer or fall under the “fair use” copyright doctrine, which means our publication is allowed to use these photos as a form of reporting.

All works on fsfreepressonline.com are subject to copyright law and are property of the Free Press. If you would like to feature any of our content elsewhere, contact Online Editor-in-Chief Baila Love. If you fail to contact us beforehand, we will contact you and if you do not take down our content, we will take legal action.
