After nearly three decades as the voice and face of Lawrence Public Schools’ communications, Julie Boyle announced her retirement according to a district news release.
Boyle, who joined the district in 1998 as Director of Communications, has been an essential part of the leadership and communications team, serving as a trusted intermediary between Lawrence Public Schools and the community. She led the district’s media relations, crisis communications, school closure notifications and the coordination of major district events.
Throughout her career Boyle has earned statewide recognition, including the 2015 Kansas School Public Relations Association’s Distinguished Service Award. In addition to her work for the district, she also served as the association’s president and mentor in 2018.
As of May 23, the district has not yet announced plans for her replacement.
