Firebird Fantasy Week 7

Evan Cornell and Will Cook

Will’s Starts:

Adrian Peterson: Peterson looked like he was playing back 2012 last week; this stud rushed for 134 and 2 TDs last week. I have faith that he will do the same against the Rams defense which has allowed the most fantasy points to opposing backs. I will be starting him as my flex this week.

Tyreek Hill: Hill had 66 receiving yards and a TD against the Raiders in the last matchup. Sean Smith or David Amerson will be matching up against Hill tonight; I do not think either of these guys matches Hill’s speed. Look for a solid WR2 performance from Hill tonight.

Will’s Sits:

Orleans Darkwa: Darkwa rushed for 117 yards last week against the Broncos; this may cause some to consider starting him this week against the Seahawks. I advise against starting him. The Seahawks have allowed only three rushing TDs to opposing RBs this season; this is not a favorable matchup.

Falcons Defense: The Falcons play the Patriots this week in a Super Bowl re-match. The difference is that neither team seems to be as solid as last season. The Falcons had a rough week last week scoring only three fantasy points. Defenses have not fared well against the Patriots offense this season leading me to believe the Patriots will win the re-match.

Evan’s Starts:

Michael Thomas: The Saints’ top receiver was held to just three catches for 11 yards in their romp over the Lions last week. He was largely shut down by Darius Slay, but this week he has a choice matchup against the Packers’ soft secondary. He will have a rebound game, and has potential to put up elite WR1 this week.

Nelson Agholor: Agholor is having the best season of his young career, and the last two games he has been especially potent. He has had four catches and a score in each of those games, and this week he’s matched up against the Redskins, who are playing without top CB Josh Norman. Agholor will be a solid WR2 or flex play this week.

Evan’s Sits:

T.Y. Hilton: This season, Hilton only has 25 catches for 485 yards and a TD. Adding that to a tough matchup against the elite Jaguars D, and he is in for a continuance of his struggles this weekend. I anticipate him having a similar game to his last, when he had one reception for 19 yards.

Jordy Nelson: With Aaron Rodgers out for the year, the Packers are being forced to start the inexperienced Brett Hundley under center. He will not be able to perform anywhere near Rodgers’ level, as shown by his 1-3 TD-INT ratio last week. With this QB still working out his kinks, the Packers will run the ball a lot, limiting Jordy’s opportunities.
